Welcome, here you can find the latest version of Q3Map Explorer. In the future we will add some more information and possibly some tutorials and stuff like that. But for now its pretty empty here.

You can read more about Q3ME here if you would like some more information.

Here are the latest news about Q3ME:

02/03/2001 - Long time, no update.

Yes, I'm still alive. :)

First, the links on the download page didn't work due to some things out of my control. Fixed. Second, I have a new version of Q3ME in the works that I think some of you will find really useful. I'm not saying what, you will have to wait and see. :) I haven't had the time to finish it due to some real life issues but hopefully it will be done in the next couple of weeks.

Also the e-mail address both in the program and on this website don't work so if you want to send me any comments or suggestions send it to [email protected] instead.

11/07/2000 - New version of Q3ME stand-alone and plugin with -vlight.

10/04/2000 - Q3Map Explorer plugin version released!

Finally I've had the time neaded to finish the Radiant plugin version of Q3ME. This plugin replaces the Bsp menu in Radiant but you will still have the standard options in the menu (like Bsp FullVis (light -extra) etc).

You can also edit the batch script before you compile if you nead to add something not suported by the program.

The program also has a helper function for those nasty error messages that q3map and bspc are spitting out. Q3ME supports over 80 messages at this moment.

In the program you also find an Arena file editor. Well, arena files are easy to make but with the editor you can add bots by ticking a checkbox making it very easy to add the arena file.

The plugin version and the stand alone version is very similar in style and use.

To install the plugin just unzip the file in your tools folder. (eg. c:\quake3\tools).

10/04/2000 - New error report file.

New error report file is now available in the download section. Q3ME can now report over 80 errors for Q3Map and Bspc!

16/03/2000 - Q3Map Explorer 1.21 patch released.
Version 1.2 had a bug that stoped the program from working if there where a space in the path to the Quake 3 game folder. This is fixed in version 1.21.

14/03/2000 - Q3Map Explorer 1.2 released!

Version 1.2 of Q3Map Explorer is released. The new version has support for compiling and running maps from a mod folder. The new version also has a report function that scans your compiler log files for errors and presents a report of them. In this report you can get an explanation of the error and a solution to the problem.

Here's a list of other things added/fixed.

  • Run Q3A now works correctly.
  • The Devmap button now works correctly.
  • The replace window in the build options tab now shows the current build description.
  • Added support for the bspc log file.
  • Removed the path to the map when using +map/+devmap with quake3.
  • Added custom gametype option to the Quake3 tab.
  • Added a "timelimit" field to the arena editor.
  • Added a "Save as batch file" function.

12/03/2000 - New section added

I've added a new section with a list of some of Q3Map's and Bspc's compiler error messages. This list is already implemented in the not yet released version of Q3ME. If you find any bugs please report them to me at [email protected].

12/03/2000 - Some notes about Q3ME

The new version of Q3ME is comming along nicely, I've fixed a lot of things in this build and added some new features. Here are a list of some of things added/fixed:

  • Now it's optional if doubleclicking on the trayicon restores the program or starts a build.
  • Run Q3A now works correctly.
  • Q3ME can now compile and run maps from a mod directory.
  • The Devmap button now works correctly.
  • Q3ME would view a file not found messages and terminate if there wasn't a maps folder inside baseq3. Fixed.
  • The replace window in the build options tab now shows the current build description.
  • Added support for bspc log file. Q3ME removes a lot of repetitive lines because of the way bspc saves the log file. I think this was the right thing to do.
  • Removed the path to the map when using +map/+devmap with quake3.
  • Now you can click on a button in the compiler log window and it will scan your log files for errors and do a report on them! This report gives you an explanation of the error and a solution to the problem. As of this moment, Q3ME finds and does a report of 22 error messages.
  • Added custom gametype option to the Quake3 tab.

08/03/00 - New site desgin
As you may have noticed, I've redesigned the site. It may not be the most beautiful site you have ever seen but I'm not a designer I'm a programmer... :)

06/03/2000 - Compiler messages
I'm investigating the possibility to make a new function for Q3maps and Bspcs log files. This function would report errors, what the error means and what to do about it. The problem is that this is a really time consuming task. If you would like to help me out and have runned into an error that you solved, send me an e-mail with the complete error message, what it means and a possible solution to the problem and in what compiler stage the error occur (bsp, vis, ligt or bspc).

04/03/2000 - The help file will be made by Tom Cleghorn
Tom has previously worked on several software manuals in the past. Specifically, the Windows help file for Wally, the Q2 text editor, and the manual for Team Evolve's Battlezone add-on, The Red Odyssey.

03/03/00 - The first public release of Q3ME!
Version 1.0 has been released after a short beta testing period. I hope you'll like it. Please report any bugs, comments and sugestions to: [email protected]
