DeFrag Update - posted 19 March 2002 by Corsair | Post a comment | Our friend from Defrag has updated their mod! The update includes 5 new maps, and some other new stuff, all really worth to check out. Head over to the DeFrag site or download Defrag 1.5 directly Almost late, as a full mark of respect for our holy traditions, but directly coming from the labs, Defrag 1.5 and Mappack 5 are now fully available for your pretty enjoyment.
The 1.5 core version incorporates many improvements, a new fresh hud to bury that overused vq3 one, coming with many console variables to fit your wisest preferences, a rewritten checkpoints code that makes Daitona or any q3rally mod just looking like as defrag, a reinforced cheats protection, pmove finally enabled, autorecord, and more improvements than you would even have dared to dream about, but, sadly for you, that you won`t ever notice about.

Tower of Portugal - posted 18 February 2002 by Corsair | 7 Comment(s) | The whole world wants to beat the World Record!
Tonight, about 59 Portuguese quakers joined on-line to try and beat the record of the 42 Man tower on DM17. It could have been better, but we only managed to get 44 people up there without some crazy guy crumbling the tower away. Still, record broken :) Some people say they used cheats.. some people say they don`t, Im not saying my opinion, im only saying it is posible with CA (osp) mode on (in warmup time), you can shoot your enemys, without harming them.. it could be they just rocket-jumped on each others head. Neither you can cause selfdamage with CA, its your decision whether you find that lame or not.

And a Fistfull of steel! - posted 17 February 2002 by Corsair | 4 Comment(s) | Fistfull of steel, a new map from Killer. Ive seen some early screenshots of it at the Pipeline site. (where you can find interisting shots of Q1, Q2 and Q3 maps, mostly on pre-beta stage). I really looked foward to a beta or ofcourse the final release (too bad I cant download it now, cause I dont have a Q3 running system ATM).
The map has a cool fresh look, and it uses some shiny steel textures from LUN3DM3.

GFX Cards Vs Doom - posted 12 February 2002 by Relix | 1 Comment(s) | John Carmack had a bit of something to say regarding Graphics Card selection for playing the not yet released Doom. Here is a clip of what he had to say:
Do not buy a GeForce4-MX for Doom.
Nvidia has really made a mess of the naming conventions here. I always thought it was bad enough that GF2 was just a speed bumped GF1, while GF3 had significant architectural improvements over GF2.
I expected GF4 to be the speed bumped GF3, but calling the NV17 GF4-MX really sucks. GF4-MX will still run Doom properly, but it will be using the NV10 codepath with only two texture units and no vertex shaders.
A GF3 or 8500 will be much better performers. The GF4-MX may still be the card of choice for many people depending on pricing, especially considering that many games won`t use four textures and vertex programs, but damn, I wish they had named it something else.
